Calmness

A rich man wanted to hang a painting in his house that would make him feel calm just by looking at it. Artists from different countries started sending him their works. The rich man chose two. The first was bright, rainbow-colored and calming. The second painting was completely different from the first. It depicted cliffs with a raging sea at their foot. A stormy sea, low dark gray clouds covered the sky, and at the top of the cliff, frightening silhouettes of trees illuminated by a flash of lightning were visible. This painting could not be called calm. But if you looked closely, you could notice a small bush growing out of a crack in the cliff. A small nest had been woven on it, and inside it sat a tiny white bird. She was proudly and calmly hatching her chicks, completely unconcerned by the madness surrounding her.

Our hero chose the second painting because it radiated calm much more strongly than the first.

True peace is not when everything around is quiet and serene. But when, despite everything that is happening around you, you continue to maintain peace within yourself....
